The fifth (final) round of the 2006 French Nationals was held at the end of September at Lempdes, near Clermont-Ferrand. After 3 wins and a 5th place finish during the first 4 rounds, Yannick was close to getting another title with his RB-powered XB8-TQ. But the rest of overall standings was not done at all and Michel Farina (XRAY/RB) had a good chance to be on the podium!

Despite very poor weather conditions, Yannick took the TQ, followed by his brother JĂ©Ă´me and Nicolas Rodriguez. Three other XRAY drivers were also in the semi: Erwan Legros, JĂ©rĂ´me Treignier, and SĂ©bastien Cayrol. Top drivers Michel Farina and Nicolas Reynaud missed the qualifying and had to run in the quarter-final. The did very well and bumped up quite easily into the semi, putting the whole XRAY/RB team into the top 20 !

In the semi, Yannick and Michel made a good run and went into the main. Erwann Legros was very fast but his tires unglued and he lost his shot for a win. With this place in the main, Yannick secured his second title with XRAY/RB. There was a good battle at the beginning of the main between Yannick, Renaud Savoya and JĂ©rĂ´me Aigoin. Yannick was a little bit faster and much more consistent so he won the race by 2 laps over his brother JĂ©rĂ´me.

Renaud finished 3rd â¦ very close to 2nd place. Michel committed some mistakes at the beginning but recovered well and finish 4th, a good finish which gave him 3rd place in the overall championship standings, and very good for his first year in Team XRAY!
